The Opening Award goes to Summer Lady

All 'Snai San Siro racecourse of Milan got off to a great start 137th galloping season with Saturday March 23 which he welcomed more than 5000 spectators of 1th day of racing, with highlight the Opening Award, and the visitors of the first of the two 'FAI Spring Days' (1039 in total) with the volunteers of Italian Environment Fund to act as guides in the splendid Milanese equestrian facility inaugurated inApril 1920 and perfect testimony of style liberty (Sunday 24th repeats from 10am to 18pm).

On the track and in the stands, however, a lot of warmth and passion on a day that offered flashes of sun and a few clouds with a splash of rain, halfway through the program and for a few minutes, which did not discourage the public present, on the contrary . Between seven runs the eyes were focused on the penultimate, the Opening Award; and it is precisely from here that our horse racing chronicle starts which saw a great protagonist, Summer Lady: she is the one who updates the roll of honor of the handicap test reserved for horses aged 4 years and over competing over 1400 meters on a straight track up to the third finish line. The mare ridden by Fabio Branca, trained by Nicolò Simondi and owned by Vittoria Ronchi, won with an explosive sprint ahead of everyone in a race in which anything could happen. Instead Summer Lady found the perfect space to avoid traffic problems and her gusts were irresistible. Daffodil Bloom and Quentin finished in order behind her after always occupying the top two positions along the course, with What You Can close behind in fourth and Coins Cross fifth after seeing the light too late. The other handicap of the day was the one at the end of the day for the Gallop Owners Union Award, try to Limited Handicap and for the seniors on the 2.200 metres, with a very tough pitch and with Merlano who settled the match after a careful trail run and a very fine extension.

Obviously spring is the 3-year-old season and there were many races reserved for young people, starting with the one dedicated to the memory of Angelo Gardenghi, the traditional test reserved for late debutants, signed after a gripping head-to-head by Gray Fast, courageous and stubborn in overcoming the expected Anthony via internal routes, who for his part did everything he could. The two finished well ahead of the third, Valhalla, who narrowly held on to the attacking Collera Ghiacciata, giving the clear sensation of being able to express progress with the experience of the race acquired.

Confirmations and surprises in both maiden for males, where in the one on the mile at the beginning of the program, valid as 137th San Siro Season Award, the favorite Cult Figure did not disappoint expectations, an Irish import from Scuderia Brooms who left a favorable impression in beating the German guest Wind Of Dream.

In the one on the double kilometre, sponsored by Sagam Audi, hit at altitude shock Amonet, which completed its journey in coast-to-coast at 50/1 without stealing anything, indeed, closing with extreme confidence. On Crastu Biancu was the only one to try, while Stamper saved the third coin from the finish of the Roman Navajo Scout, who recovered strongly after a terrible start.

In the women's division of the Sagam Audi Filly on the 2.000 meters we returned to normality, with the two most awaited of the company, Dufar and Cicini, who broke away in battle after a race without too much pace, and with a fight that in reality lasted very little, given that Dufar held back with calm determination her rival confirming that she can really appreciate the more selective distance.

But the best note of the afternoon, with all due respect to the others, was provided by Dormell's Bresciana in Roberto Milani Award, who won by dispersion on his debut there maiden on the women's mile, earning the first red circle of 2024 in Milan; really little to add, in the sense that the Exper Eye has simply flown and right now there is trepidation to see it in action again. Good second for Punta Lancia who pinched Sha Tin close to the post.

Next appointment Saturday March 30 with single ticket entrance fee: 5 euros. Free access for children under 18 and certified disabled people.
