Italian Horse Entrepreneurs. Request for an investigation into the functioning of the payment offices

(Jamma) “Dear Minister – writes the association of Italian Horse Racing Entrepreneurs of the gallop and trot – we are writing to you about the absurd and unacceptable situation that has arisen in relation to the payment of 2013 premiums to the Italian Horse Racing sector.

One of the few reasons that prompted the entire sector to continue the racing business, despite the non-payment of the last 6 months of 2012, was the absolute guarantee by the Mipaaf that there would be no problems with the payment of the 2013 premiums which would have been paid regularly and without delay within 60 days from the end of the month in which they were accrued.

This is not culpably happening and the sector is on its last legs, unfortunately we are over 130 days since the majority of operators have not yet received the January 2013 Monthly Awards.

From the information in our possession it is not a question of a cash shortage but of the incapacity on the part of the relevant offices to carry out the transfers and to determine the exact amounts.

For the above, we ask you to launch an internal investigation within your Ministry to verify whether there are any responsibilities on the part of your managers or officials that could be sanctioned with disciplinary measures for the serious damage created to the entire sector and which has led companies to bankruptcy and people to even take their own lives.

Certain that you will want to exercise the prerogatives that your role imposes on you, we look forward to your communication certifying the start of the investigation, also in order to avoid having to ascertain any liability through the courts".
