The Fiamme Gialle of the PEF Unit and the Taranto Group have seized 22 personal computers, "slot machines" and "totems", with 6 responsible persons reported to the competent authorities

A total of 22 personal computers, "slot machines" and "totems" were seized, with 6 responsible persons reported to the competent authorities. This is the outcome of a series of checks conducted in recent days by the Fiamme Gialle of the Economic-Financial Police Unit and the Taranto Group to combat illegal and irregular gaming.

In detail, during the economic control activity of the territory, which involved recreational clubs, "internet points" and betting shops located in the provincial capital and in the municipalities of Massafra and Laterza, the Ionian financiers identified and subjected to seizure 12 personal computers and 7 gaming machines, the so-called "totems", which allowed players, even minors, to connect to the internet and bet on illegal gaming platforms, as well as 3 "slot machines" not connected to the IT network of the Agency of Customs and Monopolies. The sum of 1.000 euros in cash was also seized as proceeds from gambling. At an "internet point" in Massafra, the Taranto Financial Police ascertained, in particular, that the owner of the commercial business made 5 personal computers available to the players which had already been seized in March 2023 by another Department of the Corps. For these offenses the Fiamme Gialle reported 6 individuals to the competent authorities.

During the interventions carried out to combat illegal and irregular gaming, the financiers also identified 4 workers who carried out their activities "off the books". Further investigations of a fiscal nature are being carried out aimed at ascertaining the regular payment by the inspected businesses to the Financial Administration of the so-called "Single Tax Levy", a tax commensurate with the sums "played" and recorded on the machines' meters.

In the public gaming sector, the Guardia di Finanza protects players from illegal, unsafe and without any guarantees, safeguarding the weakest groups, first of all minors.
