(Jamma) The first of the appeals filed by State Monopolies employees against the decree of last November which, in the merger process between the Customs Agency and the State Monopolies, created two sections in the new agency, arrives at the Council of State, to separate the former Aams personnel from that of the Customs. In particular, it is envisaged that Aams personnel will continue to enjoy the original economic treatment so that the merger does not involve further burdens. The November decree had already been contested before the Lazio Regional Administrative Court which with an order of last March rejected the precautionary request, essentially arguing that the contested provision does not cause serious and irreparable damage.

In the hearing held today in the Council of State, the group of employees challenged the order, requesting a new suspensive provision. “It was an overly concise pronouncement that did not take into consideration a series of aspects of the question at all” commented to Agimeg the lawyer. Scartozzi, the plaintiffs' lawyer. “We have re-proposed the same complaints advanced in the first instance, emphasizing the urgency of suspending the decree. The Spendig Review provides that the criteria to be followed to reduce personnel will be established by 31 May, and that the first redundancies can be arranged by 30 June". The ordinance is now awaited, the judges of Palazzo Spada will pronounce themselves in the next 24-48 hours.
