In implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding stipulated last year, at central level, between the Customs and Monopolies Agency and the Financial Police, aimed at achieving full valorisation of the synergies between the two Administrations, the Interregional Director for Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia of the Customs and Monopolies Agency, Dr. Franco Letrari, and the Provincial Commander of the Financial Police of Venice, Gen. B. Giovanni Salerno, initiated, with the involvement of the School Office of the Territorial Area of Venice, in the person of the Director Dr. Mirella Nappa, and of the ULSS3 Serenissima, represented by the General Director, Dr. Edgardo Contato, a joint training project aimed at preventing and combating illegal gambling, with the aim of promoting awareness, even among the youngest, of the serious risks associated with gambling.

The project, formalized in a memorandum of understanding signed this morning at the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Venice, intends to raise awareness of the phenomenon of gambling, online betting and related risks, also through the full understanding of the many pitfalls of the web.

In particular, the four Administrations will collaborate in the organization of training meetings at the schools that will join the initiative, aiming, during the interventions, to obtain instant feedback from the children and promoting the creation of relevant related papers in order to make the topics covered concrete.

Today, in the presence of the Interregional Director for Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia of the Customs and Monopolies Agency, Dr. Franco Letrari, the Provincial Commander of the Financial Police of Venice, Gen. B. Giovanni Salerno, the Director of the 3st Territorial Area Office of Venice of the Regional School Office for the Veneto, Dr. Mirella Nappa, and the Director of Services Socio-Health Services of the ULSSXNUMX Serenissima, Dr. Massimo Zuin, the relevant memorandum of understanding was signed and the terms of the agreement were established.

“The fight against illegal gambling is a priority for the Customs and Monopolies Agency – declared Dr. Letrari – this collaboration allows us to start a training project useful for promoting education on legality and consolidating responsible behavior in the new generations at the basis of conscious and civil living".

“This is an integrated approach between Administrations engaged on a daily basis in different but closely related fields” declared Gen. B. Salerno “the aim is to raise young people's awareness of the issue of illegal gaming and the pitfalls of online gaming, explaining how all of this is often linked to criminal phenomena, tax evasion, money laundering and usury".

“We consider our commitment on this front to be crucial” underlines the Director of Social and Health Services of Ulss 3 Serenissima, Dr. Zuin “because the phenomenon that we are committed to combating intersects with illegality, gambling addiction and adolescent discomfort with the attractiveness, often harmful, of the world of the web. These are all problems in which the network of social and health services can and must intervene decisively, bringing its own contribution and taking advantage of every possibility of collaboration".

The director of the School Office, Dr. Nappa, highlighted that "The stipulated protocol aims to raise awareness among even the youngest of the risks deriving from Gambling Disorder and the role of the Customs and Monopolies Agency, the Financial Police and ULSS3, acting not only on the level of contrast but also of training through specific paths aimed at education, health promotion and awareness of the risks connected to addictions to Gambling Disorder".
