Yesterday it was arranged, with Ordinance of the Police Commissioner of the Province of Bolzano Paolo Sartori, A 'extraordinary joint police operation which concerned the territory of Municipalities of Brunico and Bressanone, which affected, in particular, some urban areas which the local authorities and the citizens themselves have reported as having been the scene of specific predatory criminal episodes and phenomena of urban decay.
The police operation carried out yesterday is part of the project maintain a constant presence of the police forces throughout the provincial territory, by carrying out systematic and targeted general prevention activities need control of public establishments in those municipal contexts where the Mayors, in their function as Local Public Safety Authorities, have reported to the Provincial Authorities - Quaestor and Government Commissioner – the presence of particular problems relating to urban safety.
These police activities have the aim of systematically monitoring the entire provincial territory, ensuring a high visibility of the presence of the Police Forces, those illegal phenomena that cause a widespread perception of insecurity among citizens, as well as that of prevent situations of disruption to public order and safety due to episodes of petty crime, to drug dealing drugs as well as to the commission of crimes against property, as well as the presence of individuals not regularly present on our national territory; them, in operational phase, have also been integrated with the provision of 4 Checkpoints along the main road arteries in input and in take the exit (uscita) twigs municipal area. The police unit also carried out checks, extended to customers, at 6 public establishments.
Approximately 20 women and men of Bolzano Police Headquarters, Bressanone PS Police Station and Local Police of Brunico, with the support of the Crime Prevention Department of the State Police.
The irregularities found in two bars/trattorias in Brunico are varied and of different nature and severity, following those found in another bar already closed in recent days following previous checks carried out last week, again at the disposal of the Police Commissioner of the Province of Bolzano: violations of workplace safety regulations and fire prevention regulations, violations of gambling regulations, unlabeled and already expired foods, violation of basic hygiene standards. For all these reasons, the competent authorities were involved and the consequent serious sanctions provided for by law were requested.
Overall, they were identified during the police operation 108 Guests, Of which 22 foreigners e 15 with criminal and/or police records, 5 public businesses and 22 vehicles.
At the end of the operational activities the Quaestor has therefore adopted the following Measures:
- 2 Mandatory street papers – Personal Prevention Measure provided for by the Code of Anti-Mafia Laws – against the same number of subjects burdened by criminal and police records, residing in municipalities in another province and without any right to remain in the territory of the Municipality of Bressanone;
- 2 DACUR – Access bans in public establishmentsagainst as many individuals burdened by criminal and/or police records, who have created disturbances to public order and safety.
“Some predatory criminal episodes that occurred in the areas subject to today's inspection have led to the focus of operational activities in specific areas of the municipal territories of Brunico and Bressanone – highlighted the Police Commissioner Sartori at the end of the operation –. A constant and widespread intervention activity in the preventive phase, in close synergy with the Mayors and municipal administrations of the entire Province, in addition to making the citizens' perception of safety concrete, allows us, in fact, to cope with and keep under control the various expressions of illegality that are reported to us".
