Poker. Dealer 'unhooked' from Lottomatica claims damages for 20 million

(Jamma) If the Civil Court of Rome were to accept the request of a poker company Lottomatica would be forced to pay him damages of over 20 million euros. The appeal relates to an agreement between Lottomatica Betting and Soggea srl signed in February 2012 and according to which Soggea was allowed to participate in the online gaming circuit of Lottomatic in shared liquidity. Where having signed the contract Soggea has entered the Poker Club circuit Lottomatic with its own brand “Joka”. The agreement had a duration of two years with a tacit renewal clause in the absence of a specific communication from one of the Parties. Lottomatica Scommesse, making use of this clause, communicated its intention to withdraw from the agreement starting from April 2012. Following this withdrawal, Soggea requested the Court to ascertain the illegitimacy of the withdrawal exercised by Lottomatic Betting and the condemnation of the latter to pay approximately €20.500.000 or an alternative sum of approximately €12.300.000. The hearing will be held tomorrow, May 22, for the admission of evidence.
