On the morning of Saturday 9 March, the police officers of the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office carried out the closure order ordered by the Police Commissioner, Marco Odorisio, against a bar in the Arcella district of Padua.

This is the third measure of suspension of the license for the administration of food and drinks, as well as suspension of the license for the collection of sports bets, pursuant to art. 100 TULPS, which is carried out at the expense of the public establishment.

The first, in 2016, was ordered because repeated episodes of violence had occurred in the place and due to the presence of patrons who were dangerous to public safety, which is why, also in 2019, the bar was closed again.

The latest suspension measure was necessary to prevent, through the temporary closure of the premises, the continuation of a socially dangerous situation that had arisen over time and to prevent the recurrence of such dangerous situations, in order to protect order and the safety of citizens.

In particular, on the evening of last Sunday 3 March, the Flying Squad intervened due to a dispute between some individuals in the gypsy camp in Via Longhin, a dispute that had started right inside the bar.

Furthermore, the following day, Monday 4 March, the agents of the Flying Squad of the Police Headquarters, during a service to combat drug dealing, arrested, near the premises, a Tunisian citizen found in possession of 11 doses of cocaine and drug packaging material.

Furthermore, in the bar, on several occasions, patrons with criminal and police records were checked, especially relating to crimes against property, the person and in violation of the rules on narcotic substances, in such a number as to suggest that, over time, the public establishment has become a habitual meeting place for individuals inclined to criminal activities.

Therefore, considering the need to urgently provide for the temporary closure of the business, to interrupt the overall situation of illegality and danger, the license of the owner of the business, a 34-year-old of Chinese origin, was suspended for 60 days.

Since this is the third closure pursuant to art. 100 TULPS, as provided for in the second paragraph of the aforementioned regulatory provision, the Police Commissioner will send the proposal for the definitive revocation of the public establishment licence.
