Naples. A resolution to reward no-slot operators and condominiums that will not host game rooms

(Jamma) A recent resolution passed by the mayor of Naples De Magistris provides prizes for public businesses that decide not to install gaming machines in their premises, and for condominiums that undertake not to host game rooms. In the resolution there is a commitment to promote an agreement with the Campania Region to allocate a portion of the proceeds from taxes on gambling to finance a fund for the prevention and rehabilitation of gambling addiction, and a memorandum of understanding with the ASL Napoli 1 Centre, to facilitate the early recognition of the "pathological gambling" problem with the aim of preventing addictions and supporting families. The mayor and his council are also thinking of promoting a «permanent citizens' council on gambling». To implement the resolutions, however, it will be necessary to find the funds, necessary above all for the incentives for operators who choose not to install appliances in their premises.
