Winning 100 million rupees (1.109.154 euros) paid off the efforts of eleven Kerala women who "joined together" to buy a 250 rupee ticket (2,70 euros): nine of them paid 25 rupees each, two limited to half, 12,5 rupees. The ticket that made them millionaires – writes theHandle – won the grand prize of the monsoon season national lottery. The winners, who declared themselves over the moon, didn't have too much hope: they had already tried their luck three times, in vain.

After anticipating that they will use the money to build homes for their families, educate their children and repay debts, the new "millionaires" underlined that they will all continue to work in the waste collection and sorting cooperative that brought them together and a half years ago.
