Doria (mayor of Genoa): "There is still a lot to do on the regulation of gaming"

(Jamma) Against the excessive diffusion of gambling we are doing our part and we will continue to do it - declared the mayor of Genoa Marco Doria on the occasion of the meeting "Let's play our game - Casino" organized yesterday evening by the Fondazione Cultura of Palazzo Ducale and the Community of San Benedetto al Porto where experts in the sector spoke about the danger of gambling addiction.

The Community of San Benedetto, which has always been sensitive to the problem of gambling addiction, was already aligned against the opening of new gaming halls in the area, even taking to the streets next to the citizens in Pegli last February. Although the Municipality of Genoa has recently approved a regulation that governs the new openings of gaming halls in a much more serious manner, establishing the minimum distances of the latter from sensitive places such as schools or hospitals, according to Mayor Doria there is still a lot to do: "All this is not enough, we need serious national legislation, which today is absolutely incomplete, and a cultural commitment, because today gambling is a social disease, we need to remove the causes of this disease".
