Venice casino. Locatelli: 'Privatisation, speculation risk'

(Jamma) The privatization of the casino? "A risk that paves the way for real estate speculation". This is what Marta Locatelli, municipal councilor of the PDL, claims, who in a letter to our newspaper asks for the blocking of the sale of the gambling house and hopes for clarity with an audit by the Court of Auditors. Locatelli focuses on the change of strategy of the Municipality from 2012 to today. «About 250 million euros of immediate payment are missing in addition to 300 million, spread over 30 years. This decrease in value was apparently justified by the mayor through a real estate transaction charged to the buyer. Locatelli suspects. «It is unthinkable», she says, «that the managing director, the Board of Directors of Casino Spa and the mayor, have conceived the latest strategic version, justifying it as an improvement if not suitably conditioned by a third party offerer». And he continues: «It is precisely this change in the strategy of the public auction and privatization that arouses great perplexity and doubts about a hypothesis of a preliminary agreement with future investors. The recent press release from the CEO Ravà who communicates the interest of the Israeli group Queenco reveals the risk more». And he continues: «The reasons for this risk derive from the fact that Venezia Calcio with its president Korablin has recently been joined by Gabriel Greco, owner of Zanshin Capital, an Israeli company. At this point the risk of convergence of interests in the Casino operation and the development of the project for the new stadium in Tessera as well as the hotels and numerous other volumes that can be created runs the risk of materializing in a large concentration of interests». But then the PDL councilor has to admit that in fact there are no direct links between the two Israeli companies. However, Locatelli requests the blocking of the auction for the sale, "immediate resignation of CEO Ravà and the dissolution of the entire board of directors and the intervention of the Court of Auditors in order to block the whole operation until it has been done clarity". Immediate reactions and denials. Vittorio Ravà is determined: «I don't answer to politics but to the mayor Giorgio Orsoni. About Israeli society, I said nothing. They have not come forward and I have had no contact with anyone. Queenco, in 2005, had come one step away from buying the casino in Malta, now closed. Carlo Trevisan, Korablin's right-hand man dispels any doubts: «Greco carried out consultancy activities for us until September 2012, then the collaboration ended and he never entered the corporate bodies».
