The ASL initiatives in Chieti, Lanciano and Vasto. Stations at the weekly market and in hospitals
For the second regional day on pathological addictions, which will be celebrated next Friday, 17 November, the Addictions Service (Ser.D.) of the ASL Lanciano Vasto Chieti will set up an info point where healthcare personnel will give information, indications and suggestions to citizens on how to prevent and deal with addictions, both substance and behavioral.
There are three stations, open on Friday from 9am to 13pm: in Chieti in the area where the weekly market takes place, in Vasto at the hospital entrance and in Lanciano in the area in front of the "Renzetti" Single Booking Center (Cup).
The Day of 17 November was established in 2020 by the Abruzzo Regional Council with law 37/2020 which provides for "interventions for the prevention and treatment of pathological addictions and other provisions". The objective is to promote the value of prevention and encourage greater awareness of the dangers linked to the use of drugs, but also of legal substances harmful to the body (such as tobacco and alcohol), and of pathological behaviors connected to new technological devices as well as the offer of gambling, including online.
«Addictions represent a significant challenge for contemporary society – explain the operators of the Ser.D. -, can undermine the health and quality of life of citizens, they do not know geographical boundaries and socio-economic barriers, affecting individuals of all ages and belonging to different social groups. Management of the phenomenon requires a global response, based on collaboration between institutions, local authorities and individuals, with an integrated approach that includes prevention, early diagnosis, treatment, risk reduction and reintegration. This year the Day is dedicated to young people as health promoters and to the need to identify early the environmental, social and individual determinants that can predispose to conditions of vulnerability".
On this occasion, the Local Health Authority recalls that the Addiction Service is divided into three offices in Chieti, Lanciano and Vasto, available to users from Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 14.00, Tuesday and Thursday from 14.30 to 17.30.
