In 2023, the actual expenditure for sports betting in the agency (obtainable by subtracting the winnings from the total amount played) was 929.630.216,72 euros. This is what emerges from the data - processed by Jamma - contained in the monthly report released by the Customs and Monopolies Agency.

Naples is the province with the highest expenditure: 143.246.686,27 euros in 1.172 agencies. Rome follows with 65.333.505,55 euros spent in 702 agencies. In third place Milan with 48.541.631,06 euros spent in 481 agencies. The total wagered amounted to 5.124.159.423,4 euros while the players' overall winnings amounted to 4.194.529.206,68 euros (payout 81,85%). As regards the data of the average tax base by inductive assessment, the province of Bolzano comes in first place, where an average of 23 euros were gambled in each of the 1.330.527,07 sales points.
