Danmarks Nationalbank recently announced that it will abolish the thousand crown note (approximately 134 euros). The abolition aims, among other things, to combat and prevent money laundering.

The thousand-crown note will be abolished only on May 31, 2025. Police expect criminals to use the time to get rid of their thousand-dollar notes. Just as banks need to be extra careful when receiving thousand dollar bills in the coming period, so must gambling providers. This applies in particular to land-based betting providers and land-based casinos. However, this also applies to online gambling providers that allow deposits of funds using prepaid credit cards and cash vouchers.

The abolition of the thousand crown note is associated with a number of new risks. It may therefore be useful to consider whether the abolition of the thousand crown note is a reason to update its risk assessment. If you suspect money laundering, you must inform the Anti-Money Laundering Secretariat.
