The announcement that the Swedish Government intends to join the Macolin Convention according to the Spelinspektionen Games Authority will facilitate the work against match fixing and corruption in sport.
"This is in line with the Government's proposal for the expanded mandate of the Swedish Gambling Authority and the resources allocated against match fixing and illegal gambling. The Swedish Gambling Authority is already active in European work against match fixing and joining the convention will allow Spelinspektionen to be even more involved".
The Macolin Convention aims to combat the manipulation of sports competitions and create opportunities for cooperation between sports, gambling companies and authorities in Europe.
