For the third year in a row, the Swedish gaming authority (Spelinspektionen) has conducted a survey on the online gaming habits of Swedes. Nearly 4.000 people over the age of 18 responded to the survey conducted in May 2023.

  • The survey shows, inter alia, that:
  • 14% gambled online at least once a week
  • 31% play online at least once a quarter.
  • The most common form of gambling are online lotteries and number games
  • 38% bet on the trot, which is slightly more than last year
  • Sports betting (not trotting) has decreased in recent years, this year 22%
  • 11% are familiar with and have used the Spelpaus.se self-exclusion registry, slightly higher than the previous survey. In total, 86% say they know Spelpaus.se.
  • 6% have intentionally played on a site that doesn't have a Swedish gaming license in the past three months, while 4% have unintentionally played on any site that doesn't have a Swedish gaming license.
