“After a sporting weekend spent cheering on Jannik Sinner and Italia, this morning, while scrolling through the press review, I came across news that sees betting and gaming in a critical and predominantly negative light. Still! The recent events related to football reopen a debate in which whether informed or not, in good or bad faith, we talk about betting, integrity and legality without having in-depth knowledge of the matter and the regulatory system." This is what the CEO of Snaitech writes, Fabio Schiavolin (pictured), in a LinkedIn post.

“In my TedTalk on legal gambling in 2017 I addressed this topic with an ironic slant that began like this: 'Raise your hand if you have never bet in your life'. To those thousand people in the audience I explained how the gamble is present in every phase of our life using irreverent metaphors such as taking risk in 'choosing' a partner (marriage), in taking out a 20-year mortgage with the uncertainty of rates or the risk inherent in changing jobs. Making all these choices is the essence of the gamble and, perhaps, even a little of life. Aiming and investing one's trust in one of the many realities that could occur in the future – continues Schiavolin – is what we practically do every day. These options in betting jargon are called outcomes and can be the result of a match, the name of the player who will score first or, in life, the ending of a relationship or the beginning of a new career. So in reality we all bet all the time so we should look at betting from a different perspective. Is choosing between two restaurants, two films or two holidays with information taken here and there different from betting a few euros on who will win between Sinner and Djokovic? 6 years ago like today I want to demonstrate that legal betting is not a dark side of human behavior but perhaps the safest way to manage the ability to predict, play and deal with risk with the support of the resulting knowledge from passion and always within a strict regulatory grid that protects the consumer and the State. To all those always ready to point the finger of accusation – adds Schiavolin – I say that we State Concessionaires are the last and perhaps the only outpost of legality in this sense and also an absolute guarantee of respect for the rules, participation in the Budget of the State through tax revenue and contribution to employment. I would like to read fewer simplifications of reality, summary analyzes and a priori condemnations in the name of a desperate need for an ethical state that should guide citizens in their entertainment choices. Our country's regulatory structure is unique in the world and inspires the regulation of other countries (Germany for example). Legal gambling in Italy is a guarantee of all this: it must be examined in a more serious manner and free from populist and bigoted prejudices. We are convinced of this and this is our mission in the market. Forward!”, concludes the CEO of Snaitech.
