An operation against illegal gambling in Austria was successfully conducted by the Federal Criminal Police Office and the Financial Police: from 10 to 22 December checks on gambling were carried out throughout Austria as part of a joint targeted campaign. A total of 49 violations of the gambling law were reported and 60 machines were confiscated.

54 Guardia di Finanza employees and 137 police officers were deployed in 67 locations. During the checks, several violations of state betting regulations were found and a case of social security fraud was reported.

In addition to the gaming machines, the employment relationships of the staff were checked – here too some bar managers did not pay particular attention: a total of 24 violations of labor law regulations were found. In addition to 17 illegal workers, officials found one violation of the Unemployment Insurance Law and three violations each of the Foreign Employment Law and the Working Hours Law.
