A meeting was held in Trieste between the Eastern Adriatic Sea Port System Authority and a delegation of representatives from the Egyptian port of Damietta. The event saw the participation of numerous Italian and Egyptian associations interested in maritime traffic between the two ports and is part of the agreement signed on 22 January between Italy and Egypt to facilitate container transit between the Italian port of Trieste and the Egyptian one in Damietta.

The connection falls within the broader framework of the agreement, signed in Cairo last November, for the creation of a direct connection between the two countries for RO-RO shipments (Roll On – Roll Off), with the aim of reducing customs clearance times and promoting the use of new technologies. A crucial piece of this important facilitation project is the provision of an "electronic seal" for the surveillance of vehicles upon embarkation and disembarkation. ADM will contribute to this system, based on a specific agreement signed with the Egyptian Customs Authority.

In addition to Trieste and Damietta, the initiative will involve the ports of Genoa, La Spezia, Augusta, Catania and Alexandria in Egypt.
