The new regulatory framework has been defined for over 3 million workers, salary increase of 240 euros at the fourth level and a one-off increase of 350 euros

After over 4 years of waiting, the agreements for the renewal of the national Tertiary, Distribution and Services Contracts applied to the largest group of workers in the private sector in Italy have finally been signed, with over 3 million workers employed in commercial activities and businesses of services. The Hypotheses of Agreement were signed in the early morning today in Rome, at the end of non-stop negotiations between the trade unions Filcams Cgil, Fisascat Cisl and Uiltucs and the sector business associations Confcommercio and Confesercenti. The contracts will be valid for three years, starting from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2027.

The confrontation between the trade unions and the employers' parties has resumed in recent months after the vast mobilization organized by Filcams, Fisascat and Uiltucs, culminating in the national strike of 22 December last, with thousands of workers in the sector who abstained from work and participated in the demonstrations organized in five different cities: Cagliari, Milan, Naples, Palermo and Rome. The joint commitment of trade unions, male and female workers has opened a breach at the negotiation table, which has been stalled for too long after the signing of the bridge agreement signed in December 2022, and has made it possible to reach an agreement that improves the conditions of work and remuneration.

In this regard, the agreements provide for a fully operational contractual increase of 240 euros at the fourth level, to be adjusted, with the disbursement of a salary of 7.180 euros including the one-off payment of 350 euros, a further disbursement compared to that which already occurred last year. year. The first tranche of 70 euros will be disbursed from April 2024 and is added to the 30 euros previously agreed. An increase in the annual allowance of the elastic part-time clause is also expected, which goes from 120,00 euros per year to 155,00.

On the regulatory side, the sphere of application has been redefined and the classification updated due to the new professional profiles in the sector. Furthermore, improvements on gender policies have been defined and further leaves of absence are foreseen for women victims of violence.

Paolo Andreani, general secretary #Uiltucs: “2024 is the year of contracts in the tertiary sector. Finally the 3 million in business have the contract: a contract that marks a turning point for wage negotiation and improves the regulatory conditions of the employment relationship. 7.000 euros in the four-year period 24/27 and also introduced the contractual holiday allowance in case of delay in renewal".

“More wages and less poor work. A good contract that enhances work and enhances professionalism” she commented. Gennaro Strazzullo, national secretary of Uiltucs, explaining that "the figure of the Equality Guarantor is also foreseen at the second level of negotiation, for real gender equality, and 90 days of additional parental leave for women victims of gender violence".

The text will now be subjected to scrutiny by workers.
