“The objective is as clear as it is shared: to streamline and make the operations of the tobacconist increasingly easier and safer in carrying out daily tasks. The latest technical implementation launched by Lotterie Nazionali Srl is part of this perspective, aimed, among other things, at strengthening the level of reliability of the process of booking Scratch Card winnings belonging to the medium range, i.e. those included between 501 and 10.000 EUR". This is what he wrote in a note Italian Federation of Tobacconists.
“The technical change, currently being progressively released on the «ONE TOUCH» POS terminals, allows, during the booking phase, the acquisition of all or part of the winner's personal data, including, the tax code has been introduced . The acquisition of data is made possible by reading, via the terminal, the health card or electronic identity card. Two methods are foreseen. The first - continues the note - is given by the automatic reading of the chip present on the health card, thanks to which the winning booking form will be automatically populated with all the winner's personal data, including the tax code. The second, however, is determined by the automatic reading of the barcode present on the health card or on the electronic identity card, by virtue of which the tax code, place and date of birth of the winner will be acquired in the booking form. The remaining data will have to be entered manually.
In order to avoid possible misunderstandings and disputes, the booking process will remain unchanged for winners who do not have a tax code issued in Italy. Thanks to the aforementioned technical change, which has already been promoted and hoped for by the FIT for some time, the process of validating mid-range winnings will be simpler and faster, also limiting any errors by the tobacconist resulting from the manual filling in of the required fields. As mentioned – adds the FIT – the new functionality is being progressively released on the «ONE TOUCH» POS terminal but, within a few months, all the technological equipment present on the physical network will be updated, in such a way as to standardize the process of booking of mid-range winnings across the entire sales network. Until all types of terminals are adequate, the procedure for acquiring the tax code will remain optional.
But that is not all. In fact, for retailers equipped with the «ONE TOUCH» POS terminal, there is also a new feature on the way regarding the possibility of receiving remote assistance, i.e. without the technician physically coming to the retailer. Thanks to a new feature, the tobacconist will be able to request a remote assistance session, which will allow, after opening a ticket and where deemed necessary, to be contacted by an authorized operator. Where the retailer gives their consent, the operator will be able to start a remote assistance session which will allow them to intervene directly on the terminal. Given the sensitivity of the issue and the risk of scams always quite high, even in this case the word security is key. Remote intervention will therefore be permitted only if the tobacconist clicks on the «Remote Assistance» button in the POS STOP/RESET menu and communicates to the operator the code that will appear on the screen, without which it will not be possible to access the terminal”, concludes the Italian Tobacconists Federation.
