Online game reorganization, LOGiCO: "We hope for the introduction of shared and innovative solutions requested by the sector in the face of the sharp increase in the cost of concessions"

Having taken note of the Government's intention to significantly increase the cost for each operator of the new online gaming concessions, at the hearing in the Senate Budget and Finance Commissions, Logical recalled the needs of the sector.

“New tools to protect minors by promoting legal gaming, interventions to guarantee the organizational and economic solidity of the system, measures to prevent, combat and repress illegal gaming”. These are the main observations of the members, especially in the face of an "unprecedented increase in the cost of licenses in other European markets, where the application of the license cost linked to the operator's net turnover prevails. Even if what the Technical Report to the DLGS envisages were to be achieved with a cut to 50 dealers compared to the current 93, we would have a 50% reduction in the current market, with the risk of encouraging concentration in the hands of a limited number of international companies and groups. to the detriment of the quality of services provided under less advantageous conditions for users".

What the association hopes for is "the introduction into the measure of tools for preventing and combating pathological gambling on the European model, like what CEN is carrying out, with the only Italian participation guaranteed by LOGiCO thanks to the collaboration of the UNI – Italian Unification Body. Operators have also long been asking for regulation on advertising and the obligation to invest in advertising for responsible gaming. Because banning advertising has so far brought no benefits other than illegal gaming."

The association instead applauds “the introduction of the fight against illegal online gaming by preventing transactions from payment providers. This has been expected for years and it would have been sufficient to implement the (identical) legislative provision in the 2019 Tax Decree, or the (identical) provision of the provision in the 2011 Summer Budget, both of which were never implemented. It is a pity, however, that this "shield" is being proposed again in conjunction with the announced expulsion of a large group of dealers, who, once expelled, will no longer be able to operate in Italy".

The association Logical (League of Online Channel Gaming Operators) was established in April 2016 and aims to represent the interests of companies operating, through regular concessions from the Italian State, in the online gaming and betting sector.

It is a non-profit, independent and non-partisan trade association and represents Italian and international dealers and providers of legal online gaming: Bet365, Betsson, Betway, Bwin, Kambi, Kindred Group, Leovegas, StarCasinò, William Hill.
