“It could have been an opportunity for an online gaming reform that would achieve 4 shared and understandable objectives: LEGALITY, PROTECTION OF PLAYERS, TAX REVENUE and PROTECTION OF COMPANIES AND WORKERS.

It is unfortunate - observes Remo Fiori, president of the CIGO association - to note that the Government has chosen a short-sighted path, from which the large multinationals undoubtedly benefit, the only ones capable of supporting the burden of the infamous one-off payment.

In fact, it was decided to eliminate, by making abnormal and distorted use of a delegation granted for a reorganization, an entire supply chain of small and medium-sized ITALIAN companies through the imposition of an absolutely disproportionate, unjustified and unrealistic:

a price too low for LARGE MULTINATIONALS, a prohibitive price for small and medium ITALIAN businesses.

It was also decided to effectively eliminate a network of over 50 thousand Italian micro enterprises (PVR) to favor the specialist networks still headed by LARGE MULTINATIONALS.

Despite the reports, warnings and communications from the sector associations, a path has been chosen which will NOT bring the expected tax revenue (who will cover the HOLE?), which will however wipe out hundreds of ITALIAN companies and thousands of jobs and which will deliver new market spaces for the off shore .com giants with all due respect to the protection of players and legality controls.

Yet it would have been enough to apply common sense principles...

Award price commensurate with the dealer's business reality.

PVR finally regularized through a REGISTER, controlled and monitored but not actually expelled from the market.

How will it end? Certainly in every existing Court, with only one winner who can celebrate today:

THE IRREGULAR, UNAUTHORIZED, UNCONTROLLED, UNTAXED MARKET".
