The International Association of Gaming Regulators (IAGR) has announced a change in leadership following its annual conference in Botswana. With a strong commitment to promoting gaming regulation around the world, IAGR welcomes the appointment of a new President, Ben Haden (pictured), who takes over from Dr. Jason Lane and Vice President, Caroline Kongwa.

Ben Haden brings a wealth of experience to this role. Ben is currently Director of the Gambling Commission in the UK and has served as a Trustee of the IAGR for five years, the last two as Vice President, organizing two highly successful annual conferences.

Concurrent with this appointment, Caroline Kongwa assumes the position of Vice President, solidifying her continued commitment to the IAGR mission. Caroline is the Chief Strategic Advisor to the National Gambling Board in South Africa.

“During my two-year term, I am determined to build on the great work done by Jason during his presidency,” says Ben Haden. It is a challenging but exciting time for gambling regulation. We will seek to encourage greater collaboration and sharing of best practices between jurisdictions and partners, promoting a stronger sense of our community. The IAGR would like to extend its sincere thanks to outgoing President Jason Lane for his two years of outstanding leadership. We are very pleased that Jason will continue to be actively involved in the IAGR, serving as a trustee of the IAGR Board.”

These announcements were made at the culmination of the IAGR annual conference held in Gaborone, Botswana, where regulators from around the world gathered to discuss key industry issues and best practices.

Looking to the future, IAGR is excited to reveal that its next annual conference will be held in the historic city of Rome, Italy, from 21 to 24 October 2024. This event promises to be a key gathering for industry professionals, providing an invaluable platform for dialogue, collaboration and innovation. The conference will be a collaborative event, hosted by IAGR and the International Masters of Gaming Law (IMGL).

“I am thrilled by the opportunity to participate in the organization of the 2024 IAGR conference in Rome and to curate a program that lives up to the exceptional event we have experienced here in Botswana,” said Vice President Caroline Kongwa.

Ticket sales for IAGR2024 will open in early 2024.
