Francesco Gatti (Bakoo): 'The ANCI makes its requests, the AAMS has the possibility to intervene directly on the machines'

(Jamma) "I am following with interest the controversy over the phenomenon of gaming which has suddenly stolen the limelight from problems of a certain inferior caliber: stop talking about the costs of politics, waste, Equitalia, the difficulties of companies, of the harm of smoking and drug and alcohol abuse among young people and to concentrate almost exclusively on gambling seems to me absolutely beyond all imagination”. Words of Francesco Gatti, director of Bakoo SpA, a company that operates in the production of amusement machines.

But maybe they don't know a few things:
The slots from the bars work for one euro per shot, those in the halls up to 10 euros per shot and with no insertion limits.

Removing those from the bar and having the players go to the halls is equivalent to doing exactly the opposite of what we set out to do.

Bar machines make money for the state (a lot) and guarantee the bartender the minimum to pay a rent: removing them is equivalent to closing about 20% of bars.
Do the trade associations such as FIPE etc. agree?

Machines in bars have always existed, they have been part of our culture, they were pinball machines, then they became video games (currently practically unsellable due to absurd rules imposed precisely to divert all the cash flow to slot machines - let's remember this well), then video poker and finally limited-payout slot machines.

Turning off these machines is equivalent to giving strength to the illegal game, but since we have been shouting it for months and we are not being listened to, perhaps if the crazy proposals that I have heard in recent days went through, the Administrations, once the legal operators were eliminated, would hand the impossibility of dealing with a deregulated market, where checks will no longer be done from a terminal but bars, tobacconists and public establishments will have to be sifted one by one to perhaps find a good turned off video poker machine in the back room (which, however annoying it is not illegal if it is not used!) and that it is only turned on at certain times and in certain ways.

We are committed to bringing the sector into complete legality and we have suffered the mad rush for money expressed by the wicked introduction of the VLTs. Now we will pay duty for machines not manufactured by us, not installed by us, but managed by that game lobby that these very associations would like to fight and which will end up incredibly
to favor.

The industry is changing, and will change again. The sector fairs will arrive, we will suffer further harsh attacks without us being united enough to face these challenges.

Why doesn't AAMS use messages for pathological gambling on comma six/A? Why don't the associations strongly ask for this thing? Right now it would have a big impact and a big effect on public opinion.

Why doesn't ANCI ask AAMS to block the machines in the bars within the times set by the current legislation? With messages for pathological gambling, with scrolling banners.
It is immediate, possible and at no cost. ANCI takes steps to request the things that they could really do immediately, and I also ask for this as a citizen.

Does ANCI know about this possibility? My appeal is to the trade associations: SAPAR, ACMI, ASTRO, FIPE, ANCI:
AAMS has the ability to intervene directly on the machines. We all ask together that it be done. Why is this intervention not being carried out in the first place?
No need to change the machines, just use the functions (many!) that these machines allow and that should be used!
