(Jamma) Codacons responds today to Confindustria Gioco Italia which, in one note relating to gambling addictions, denied having provided any availability to the association regarding the drafting of a scientific experimentation protocol to evaluate systems for the prevention of gambling excesses.
Evidently Confindustria Gioco Italia has forgotten the meeting of 14 May last, solicited by Codacons, with the presence of Codacons itself and the Department of Anti-Drug Policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers - says the association - Meeting during which Confindustria, in front of Codacons and Giovanni Serpelloni, director of the Department, accepted the drafting of an experimentation protocol to be able to install software capable of warning players of the risks in the event of excessive gambling.
Obviously it is not up to Codacons to accept the commitments of Confindustria, nor has this ever been affirmed - continues the association - also because, honestly, our organization does not have any kind of trust in the possibility that the gaming industry will keep the commitments made . Equally obvious that it should be the Anti-Drug Policy Department, to which we are appealing today, to supervise and check that the operators respect their promises.
For some mysterious reason, the gaming industry seems to have removed the meeting of May 14 from its memory, or else it is ashamed to admit that the decision to test software against gambling addiction was taken precisely at the request of Codacons – concludes the association.
