Cifone (Acogi): "Game is fun and entertainment, not a social scourge"

Monacelli (Udc Umbria): "Gambling is growing rapidly among young people, also the fault of the media"

(Jamma) “I don't think the description of the game as a 'real social scourge' can be shared, thus attributing the worst connotation” said Ugo Cifone, president of Acogi, commenting on the statements of the UDC Umbria regional parent company, Sandra Monacelli.

“Our work, that of the institutions, associations and sector operators of the upper echelons of industry – continued Cifone – must converge in the only direction that gaming deserves, the legal one above all. In this perspective, being aware of the social and pathological problems that can derive from unguided and inadequately informed gaming, it would be reasonable - and in this I agree with the parent company Mrs. Monacelli - to guarantee greater protection for the weakest groups. We need objective and exhaustive information that allows not only the growth of individual knowledge of the problematic implications that gaming can cause but above all allows us to guide young people and all operators towards the real dimension that gaming has developed since ancient times. Gambling shouldn't be considered a social scourge, it's an opportunity for recreation, entertainment and for many it's a job opportunity that is missing in Italy. It must be safeguarded".
