Caputo (OIES): “The Chamber of Deputies starts the discussion on the regulation of Esports. An important goal in which we believed"

“It's incredible, we succeeded: for the first time in history the Chamber of Deputies has started the discussion on the regulation of Esports”. It's the comment of Louis Caputo, founder ofItalian Esports Observatory.

“Today the Labor and Culture Commissions of the Chamber are meeting to begin a process that we hope will lead to the regulation of the sector, starting from the proposals contained in the White Paper of the Italian Esports Observatory.

This extraordinary work, which led us to unite the various operators to bring bottom-up proposals, has finally achieved its result: Esports today becomes a topic to be discussed in Parliament.

It is something unique and was also possible thanks to the stubbornness of the honorable members of the 5 Star Movement Antonio Caso and Valentina Barzotti, who together with us at OIES have made this theme their own, committing themselves with all their strength to trigger improvements for the gaming.

We are still at the beginning, but this is the goal that many people in the sector dreamed of, and about which many others instead showed skepticism. Another applause, in fact, also goes to the majority political forces, who have shown sensitivity towards a topic that can no longer be postponed.

To many, it seemed like a lost cause to raise awareness among the institutions by collaborating with an opposition force. How many times have I heard myself say “You're wasting your time”. Instead, today we have shown that the defense of important issues has no sides.

All those who contributed to our White Paper will be proud to have written this piece of history, because their proposals are part of the resolution presented to the Chamber.

We ask for the recognition of Esports, its operators, its cultural value and the video game understood as a work of art.
