Marcotti (Confindustria - SGI): "Biancofiore doesn't know what he's talking about, a bad impression"

(Jamma) "I'm sorry that Undersecretary Michaela Biancofiore during an interview granted to 'KlausCondicio' talks about things she doesn't know, making herself and the institutions she represents look bad". This was stated by Italo Marcotti, Vice President of Confindustria – Sistema Gioco Italia.

“The Honorable Biancofiore – continues Marcotti – talks about taxation on gaming and says that 'taxation in the sector is rather low, equal to 6%'. He's wrong, and big. For your dutiful information, the taxation of the sector is equal to about 50% of revenues - about 8,5 billion last year - and is in line with that of other countries. To these taxes, levied 'upstream', is then added the taxation of normal business income. The tax burden of the sector, therefore, on balance, is more than 75%. One of the highest in Italy”.

“Finally, I remind the Honorable Biancofiore that the gaming sector is also undergoing a crisis and it is not rash statements like these that will allow us to support the efforts of over 6.600 businesses and 120.000 employees in the sector. As state operators, we are the first to know the real problems affecting the gaming sector and we strongly ask politics to activate a work path to protect the transparency of the offer, the safety of players, employment and tax revenue . To this end, I am available, even immediately, for a meeting with the Honorable Biancofiore”, concluded Marcotti.
