“After many years of waiting, the reorganization of the public game has finally entered the minds of politicians. At the center right now is the territorial question which requires longer time. It's time to bring order to the rules that have followed since 2010, distances and times for example, tackling the problem consciously." That's what he stated Geronimo Cardia (in the photo), president of ACADI (Association of public gaming concessionaires), during his speech at the Panel discussion “The territorial question: in search of a sustainable balance”, at the Italian Gaming Expo currently underway in Rome.
“It must be understood that Gambling Disorder must be approached with a global and non-sectoral vision, therefore not only on certain types of gaming but on all. Not taking this vision into account means not providing a good service to the user. The objective is to protect the user not from ONE game but FROM the games and allow the full satisfaction of all public interests (I am thinking of tax revenue, legality safeguards), to avoid unwanted effects of further harmful shifts in gaming demand between public games. The need is a definitive balanced, sustainable, coordinated and homogeneous solution on the territory", concluded Cardia, author of the book "Public gaming in Italy: reorganization, territorial question and institutional short circuits", published by Giappichelli and just released in bookstores.
Regarding his book, Cardia commented as follows: “In this very delicate moment, in which regulating various issues in one way or another means affecting not only the private interests of operators but even more importantly on public interests, the book provides the tools necessary to consciously face the reorganization season of the sector which is still underway. In the foreground are the public interests which presuppose the orderly and effective existence of the sector: user protection, legality, tax revenue, business and employment, without forgetting the balance between concessions and system stability".
