Hungary. Companies 'damaged' by the ban on slots appeal to the Strasbourg Court

(Jamma) The companies affected by the ban on installing slot machines in public establishments are seeking compensation from the European Court in Strasbourg for the damages suffered and lost revenues. This is what national newspapers report. A ruling by the Court of Human Rights in favor of the applicants could cost the state billions of guilders, reports the press.

Last October, the parliament passed a law that prohibits slots from being installed in premises other than casinos with a regular permit.

The state thus deprived the businesses of their assets and livelihoods, the plaintiffs say. Daniel Karsai, a lawyer who previously worked at the Strasbourg court, took on the task of representing them.
