Tuscany. In the Regional Council a bill and a motion to deslotize the Region

(Jamma) A bill and a motion to "deslotize" the Tuscany region were presented this morning in the Regional Council.

While the bill presented today by the parent company Marco Ruggeri, together with the directors Enzo Brogi and Nicola Danti, calls for a ban on the presence of slot machines in premises near schools or youth centres, an ethical brand that identifies 'No slot' bars or halls and to provide for the use of special magnetic cards to identify the age of those who play in so as to prevent their use by minors, the motion presented by the regional councilor of the PSI and group leader of the mixed group, Pieraldo Ciucchi, calls for "the legalization of prostitution which would allow to rebalance the minor revenues for the State deriving from the ban on slot machines ”.

«The financial numbers and the social hardship of this scourge – explained Enzo Brogi – are impressed and tell us that state intervention is urgently needed, also in terms of new laws. By now we are talking about a "degenerate" legal system, which feeds organized crime and money laundering. This is also why we wanted to stir things up with a proposal from Tuscany, which indicates some ways forward for Parliament. There is a need for more checks, prevention, especially aimed at minors, support for the sick and for those businesses or leisure clubs that give up slots. I dream – Brogi concluded – of a “de-slotted” Tuscany or, at least, I would like to provoke a discussion».

"We have to do something," added Nicola Dante – even if regional competences appear limited. Of course, the Regions cannot only be involved in the final stage of managing the phenomenon, i.e. with the treatment of people suffering from gambling addiction, who are increasingly turning to our Local Health Authorities. In the meantime, for example, let's try to act on the prevention and bans on gambling among the younger generations".

"A proposal of common sense, which tries to gather the many ideas coming from associations and volunteering in the front row to fight the phenomenon - said Marco Ruggeri – I hope that this battle can be brought to fruition soon and positively and that it can also be useful to Parliament, which we already solicited with the approval of a unanimous motion a year and a half ago. Now – concluded the group leader – is the time to get busy».
