The Turin Financial Police has concluded an operation to combat the phenomenon of illegal gaming, called "Undertotem", which led to the identification of an illegal slot room inside a bar in the Parella district of Turin.
In the business there were rooms which were accessed by a door on which the "Private" label was affixed, inside which, among other things, electronic devices such as slot machines not connected to the network managed by the Agency were found. Customs and Monopolies and on which the required identification codes were altered. These devices contained sums totaling 4 thousand euros, probably the result of the day's bets.
Given the total absence of accounting documentation relating to gaming machines, the Financiers of the 2nd Metropolitan Operational Unit have reconstructed in a presumptive manner the tax base relating to the Single Tax Levy evaded, quantifying it at over 3 million euros.
The commercial activity also operated "in the black", as the bar customers received receipts issued by a cash register without the function of telematic communication to the Treasury of daily receipts. The barmaid - who was also found to be "under the table", as she was not employed regularly - had however kept the receipts summarizing the closing of the register and very diligently noted down in a "parallel" accounting, all the takings, quantified at a total of 125 thousand euros, corresponding to the income for the year not declared to the tax authorities.
Having not declared any compensation, the bar manager had also been able to access the benefit of the so-called “citizenship pension” of 630 euros per month.
In addition to the expected administrative sanctions imposed by the military for the possession of illegal gaming machines, the failure to subject the fees to taxes and the use of personnel without fulfilling the social security contributions obligations, the owner of the business was reported to the local Judicial Authority for undue receipt - in the event of accusation and without prejudice to the presumption of innocence until responsibility has been ascertained - of the "citizenship pension", in relation to which the INPS has already been involved for the recovery of the amount unduly received.
The activity carried out demonstrates the transversality of the economic-financial controls implemented by the Fiamme Gialle also in the peripheral areas of the Piedmontese capital, also aimed at protecting economic entities that operate in compliance with the rules.
