The Gaming Authority (KSA) intervened in the case of a gaming provider in the Netherlands who advertised its gaming offer in a non-targeted manner during a television game show. Sponsorship of television programs is still permitted until 1 July 2024, but is subject to strict conditions.

The advertising that was shown in the program did not meet the requirements established by law. The logo or name of the supplier in the sponsorship is mentioned neutrally. During the television program in question, which was sponsored by a legal provider, the name of the provider was combined with a gaming element, namely a slot machine. As far as Ksa is concerned, this is not a neutral expression.

After discussion with the provider and the TV program in question, the game element was changed.

On July 1, 2023, the ban on non-targeted advertising came into force. Gambling operators' recruitment and advertising activities must not reach minors, young adults and other vulnerable groups. This means that from 1 July 2023, advertising on TV and radio, as well as in newspapers and magazines, will be banned. Advertising is not permitted in public places, such as billboards and bus shelters, and in buildings accessible to the public, such as casinos, arcades, arcades, cinemas and cafes.

Since existing sponsorship contracts were taken into account at the start of the ban, sponsoring television programs is permitted until 1 July 2024. Sports sponsorship is permitted until 1 July 2025.
