The managers and employees of slot rooms or bars, tobacconists or other businesses with loot machines, Vlts or other prize games with cash prizes, must follow specific training courses lasting 8 hours. Two hours only, however, for tobacconists, who will be recognized for the training credits already acquired in the qualification courses previously carried out.

Who doesn't comply risks a financial penalty and the temporary closure of the business.

The mandatory training courses envisaged by the Tuscany Region for those who work in betting centers and, more generally, in spaces for gaming with cash prizes are opening throughout Tuscany.

The obligation, established with the regional law 57/2013 and sm and the Council Resolution 344/2020, has the aim of preventing and combating illegal gambling, protect consumers and sensitize managers and sector employees on the issue of gambling addiction, in order to enable them to monitor the possible onset of gambling addiction among their customers and to activate the appropriate support services.

To facilitate operators in compliance, and activate active collaboration between organizations and businesses to combat gambling addiction,  Confcommercio Tuscany e The Tuscan Regional Authority they entered into an agreement in which they also collaborated Fipe-Confcommercio, FIT/STS, EGP FIPE and ACADI CONFCOMMERCIO.

COURSES

The training course lasts 8 hours. Only two hours, however, for tobacconists who have installed slot machines and the like. In fact, they will be recognized for the training credits already acquired in qualifying courses completed previously.

Among the topics that are covered during the lessons: the current legislation regarding legal gaming, consumer rights and gambling advertising; the characteristics of games of chance that induce addiction, the definition of addiction and the mechanisms of gambling disorder.

A special focus is then dedicated to the identification of signs of risky behavior and knowledge of territorial network of support and care services to be activated if necessary. Precisely to address these delicate issues, Confcommercio Toscana has involved in the teaching the managers of the territorial Suap and the operators of the SerD, the public services for pathological addictions activated at the territorial Local Health Authorities, who we thank for their availability.

SANCTIONS

Failure to fulfill the training obligation has the following consequences:

  • an administrative fine from €1.000 to 5.000
  • the temporary closure of the business
  • the temporary closure of gaming machines using seals.

The deadline for mandatory training is imminent, interested parties are invited to contact the nearest Confcommercio office immediately to enroll in the first scheduled training course, useful for regularizing the position of their company.
