In the month of June alone he allegedly committed two thefts and one attempted theft against the gaming halls of the Reggio Emilia ceramic district, taking the money placed in the slot machines which he took care to break into with burglary tools. The Carabinieri of Scandiano (RE), at the conclusion of the related investigations, reported to the Prosecutor's Office a 24-year-old resident in Reggio Emilia, called to answer for the crime of aggravated and continuous theft, receiving stolen goods and unjustified possession of keys and lock picks. The Prosecutor's Office, sharing with the investigative findings of the Carabinieri of the Tenenza of Scandiano, obtained from the GIP the application of the precautionary measure of house arrest against the 24-year-old.
The activity led to the discovery and return to the robbed person of a car used for travel, burglary tools and approximately 500 euros in coins from the theft. On 21 June 2023, the Carabinieri of Scandiano were searching for a Fiat Panda with a young man on board who had just left a games room in the municipality of Scandiano, where he had attempted to break into some slot machines and where, as also documented from the videos of the internal cameras, on the previous 3 June he had stolen around 600 euros by forcing some slots.
The Fiat Panda used by the 24-year-old was reported stolen on May 10 in Reggio Emilia. The police, in the hypothesis that following the failed theft the perpetrator would have gone to another games room, opted to search the areas of the ceramic district where these activities take place. The intuition soon paid off: the carabinieri intercepted and stopped the car with the young man on board near an amusement arcade in Casalgrande. Once the identification procedures were completed and following the personal and vehicular search, the soldiers found between the feet of the person transported a purse with around 500 euros in coins, which were then found to have been stolen shortly before from the slot machines of the Casalgrande games room which were found to be forced, burglary objects consisting of screwdrivers, wire cutters, a nail remover and a glass cutter stored in the glove compartment of the car. The subsequent investigations carried out also through the examination of the videos extrapolated from the video surveillance cameras of the arcades subject to the furtive raids, made it possible to acquire elements of presumed responsibility in relation to the attempted theft in Scandiano, the theft from the Casalgrande arcade and the previous theft of the previous 3 June in the same games room in Scandiano. The stolen car was returned to the owner while the money and burglary tools found in their possession were seized.
The soldiers of the Scandiano Tenenza, having received the order implementing the measure, implemented it by subjecting the 24-year-old to the precautionary measure. The proceeding, in the preliminary investigation phase, will continue with the usual investigative investigations in order to allow the Judge to verify the possible full responsibility of the suspect.
