The extraordinary territorial control plan called Operation "High Impact" has been launched in the entire province of Cosenza, determined at the Technical Coordination Meeting chaired by the Prefect of Cosenza, Dr. Vittoria Ciaramella, prepared at the technical table by the Police Commissioner of the Province of Cosenza, Dr. Giuseppe Cannizzaro, in agreement with the Provincial Commanders of the Carabinieri Col. Agatino Saverio Spoto and of the Financial Police Col. Giuseppe Dell'Anna.
The services saw the joint presence in the area of the soldiers of the Carabinieri, the Financial Police, units of the "Northern Calabria" Crime Prevention Department, dog units, specialists from the various Police Forces as well as the competent local police forces.
High-impact territorial control services, aimed at preventing and further combating predatory crimes and giving immediate feedback to the community's safety requests, continue to bear fruit.
The targeted checks on people and vehicles, according to a now tested operational scheme, made it possible to monitor certain areas of the city and the province with a high criminal density.
They were carried out both in Cosenza (via degli Stadi, c.da Serra Spiga and surrounding areas) and in the municipalities of Cassano allo Ionio (Lakes of Sibari and Sibari and Corigliano Rossano (Loc. Schiavonea) accurate checks in the most at-risk areas and in drug dealing areas.
In the context of integrated territorial control services, the activity aimed at verifying compliance with the measures imposed on people subject to legal obligations was particularly intense and in this regard, subjects subjected to measures limiting personal freedom were checked.
Of considerable importance concerns the administrative control carried out on a well-known commercial business located in the Municipality of Corigliano-Rossano, loc. Schiavonea, within which theinstallation of 5 irregular slot machines as they were not connected to the electronic network control of the State Customs and Monopolies Agency (ADM) and with the seals of the tampered cards.
This verification led to the owner's release into a state of freedom, already burdened by police records, and the raising of administrative sanctions for an amount of 50.000 euros and a sum of money equal to 1.710 euros.
Below are the results achieved:
– 447 people identified;
– 293 vehicles checked;
– 5 controlled public and/or open to the public businesses;
– 20 checkpoints;
– 9 contested violations of the Highway Code;
– 3 subjects referred to the AG
The provincial checks by the Police Force will continue in the next few days, without interruption.
