In Pordenone, the battle against gambling is fought on the front of information and prevention

Bolzano: license revocations are ready for numerous bars that have not yet removed the slots

Policoro. Modarelli (PdL): "It's not enough to put padlocks on the slots, the game runs above all on the net"

(Jamma) «There are no regulatory brakes on the opening of centers that induce people to try their luck, but it's not just these places that worry the municipal administration. Let's not forget all the bars where there are gaming machines.' This declaration was made by the councilor for social policies of the municipality of Pordenone, Vincenzo Romor, after the announcement of the opening of the third arcade in the city within a year.

If it is true that minors are not allowed to play, it is equally true that clinical studies show an increase in gambling among young people aged 20, also thanks to the diffusion of online gaming. The municipal administration, sensitive to the issue, has looked in vain for a way to regulate cinemas, also from an urban planning point of view. «Unfortunately until the relevant legislation changes – recalls the Councilor for Commerce Bruno Zille – our hands are tied. Hence the choice to divert our intervention to information and prevention. Theme on which the councilor Romor is working, who will soon present a new initiative. "It's a difficult and unequal battle because the diffusion of vending machines in public establishments doesn't help us - says Romor - but we want to carry it forward, also because in this economic crisis people are more sensitive to false flattery".
