Girls and boys will have the opportunity to experiment with an internship abroad

Cometa students cross the borders of Italy for the first time for an international mobility experience. In these days, twenty-six girls and boys from the fourth grade of the Oliver Twist school in Cometa will have the opportunity to fly to Spain, Finland and Malta for two weeks of curricular internship abroad. Selected through a call that favored the most motivated ones, girls and boys will be able to experiment and learn from different realities, in the fields of catering and bar rooms, wood and textiles.

The mobility of students, also possible thanks to the support of TGI, is part of the European project “GIVE – Governance for Inclusive Vocational Excellence”, co-financed by EU Erasmus+ programme as part of the initiative aimed at Centers of Professional Excellence (CoV-Centres of Vocational Excellence). GIVE has as its objective the design and development of a European platform of inclusive Centers of Excellence in professional training, for which training schools, universities and European companies have been involved for four years (Italy, Malta, Finland, Spain, Romania, Belgium) . Its key principle is the search for the most functional models of inclusion, in the training and job placement process, capable of putting the person in their uniqueness at the center and accompanying them in all stages of the journey. This trip will therefore be an opportunity to experiment with the model of inclusive excellence on which Cometa and the partners of the GIVE project are working to support the professional and personal growth of students, introducing an approach which, thanks to scientific action research, could represent a new and good practice that can be replicated and disseminated.

Before departure, students were matched with the company in which they will carry out the internship and together with the tutors they faced the cognitive interviews. And thanks to TGI, partner of Cometa's Oliver Twist School and of the project, girls and boys were prepared to familiarize themselves with the culture of each country and with the basic tools useful for orienting themselves during the internship, given that for many of them it will be the first time at abroad in which to test one's ability to adapt and one's autonomy. Accompanied by two teachers per group, students will reach different places depending on their study path: the Spain, around Bilbao, for Bar room e Restaurants sectors, Finland, near Helsinki, for wood e Malta, near Valletta, for textiles. During the two weeks spent abroad, the interns will carry out part of their curricular internship in the company. In their free time they can visit the city and its surroundings.

It will be a representative experience of the Cometa method and of the Oliver Twist School which puts theinclusion, through the Customization, starting from listening to the kids to accompany them on a path in which they can live meaningful experiences. A support that continues during internships, up to job placement.

"It's a great opportunity for our kids – says the headmaster of the Oliver Twist School, Giovanni Figini –. Beyond the internship, it will be a great challenge to learn to manage yourself independently, even if accompanied by a tutor. When selecting the kids we favored those who were most motivated and in disadvantaged situations. Many of them, in fact, have never taken a plane. The hope is that these will be two weeks that will give them the opportunity to think about themselves in a distant future and will help them to project themselves into a context different from the one in which they grew up, becoming aware of how, with commitment and motivation, they will be able to reach their goals. own goals and build your own tomorrow".

"We are happy to continue supporting girls and boys from Cometa, this time participating in a large European project that will allow them to grow through new experiences of the world and themselves and acquire greater independence and the ability to face their professional future", he has declared Enrica Ronchini, Head of External Relations at IGT.
