Since dawn, State Police agents have been engaged in a vast anti-drug operation, coordinated by the District Anti-Mafia Directorate, against two criminal groups operating in the area between Pomezia and Nettuno. In particular, the police are implementing the precautionary custody order issued by the judge for preliminary investigations of the Court of Rome against 30 investigated considered seriously suspected, in various capacities, of the crime of association aimed at drug trafficking, attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm, fraudulent transfer of valuables and self-laundering.
Today's judicial police activities, which also consisted of numerous searches, involved the men of the Rome Flying Squad, who operated with the support of crews from the Crime Prevention Department, the Mobile Department, the Flight Department of the State Police and with the help of the flying squads of Latina, Benevento and Ravenna, for a total of approximately 300 operators.
The investigations, launched by the Flying Squad between 2019 and 2020 and coordinated by the Capitoline Anti-Mafia District Attorney's Office, were also corroborated by the reports of a justice collaborator, documenting the existence of two distinct criminal associations, operating in the southern area of the capital with ramifications on the lower Roman coast between the municipalities of Pomezia and Nettuno and in competition with each other for the predominance of the monopoly of the drug market in those territories, in particular, cocaine and marijuana.
It has been established, in terms of circumstantial gravity, the existence of a first partnership, directed by (...) assisted by "lieutenants" involved in the introduction of the narcotic into the Municipalities of Pomezia-Torvajanica, Ardea, Anzio and Nettuno who was also responsible for a punitive expedition against a drug dealer from the competing clan led by (...).
During the investigation, he was identified a person seriously suspected of attempted murder for reasons possibly linked to that criminal context and numerous arrests were made in flagrante delicto which led to the overall seizure of Approximately 10 kg of cocaine, 75 kg of marijuana, 1 marijuana plantation.
During the numerous interventions carried out by the Flying Squad, firearms held by the criminal association were also seized, including 4 illegal pistols.
The investigations also made it possible to document numerous self-laundering operations and fraudulent transfer of values by some top affiliates of the association who invested the illicit proceeds in companies, properties, cars and valuable watches: therefore, at the same time as the execution of the aforementioned precautionary measure, the Judge for preliminary investigations of Rome, accepting the request of the District Attorney's Office Anti-mafia, ordered the preventive seizure of a villa with swimming pool and no. 3 companies, all operating in the legal gaming and sports betting sector, and related corporate complexes and financial relationships.
The police operation is part of the broader action of the District Anti-Mafia Directorate and the Rome Flying Squad aimed at countering the criminal activity carried out in the lower Roman coast, characterized by constant conflict between multiple criminal groups connected to the dominance of the squares of drug dealing in the area, in the context of which, in recent times, numerous attacks have been recorded, also involving the use of weapons.
During today's searches a subject was arrested after being found in possession of approximately one and a half kilos of hashish, 30 grams of cocaine and ketamine. A rifle and ammunition were found in the homes of two recipients of precautionary measures, all seized.
For the record, and for the protection of those under investigation, we would like to remind you that an accusation is not equivalent to a conviction, that the evidence is gathered in court and that the Italian judicial system still provides for three degrees of judgement.
